HOW TO PRONOUNCE "WOMAN" AND "WOMEN"?

They can be very confusing because they are very similar and you may think the plural form doesn't make any sense. However, it is crucial to know how to differentiate these two words because they can alter the meaning of your sentence a whole lot.

First, let's start with "woman". We start with a "w" sound and we follow it with a "ʊ" sound as in "good". Then we get to the second syllable starting with an "m" sound with a schwa, a reduced vowel, and then an "n". Don't forget that the stress is in the first syllable!

Although the plural form may seem to be only different in spelling at the end of the word, which is the change of the vowel from "a" to "e", it affects the pronunciation of THE FIRST SYLLABLE! Instead of using the "ʊ" sound as in "good", we use the "ɪ" sound as in "sit".

You can easily understand and master the difference with practice. Here, we made a video for you to practice. Good luck!
